The existing house was dark and dated with small, south facing kitchen and laundry flanking a concreted back yard. A central corridor was inserted into the existing living room to enable the creation of a third bedroom one side plus laundry, powderoom, walk in robe and ensuite on the other. The existing rear kitchen and laundry were demolished and replaced with a large, angular, light filled addition designed to capture northern sunlight. The addition was pulled off the boundaries to be sensitive to it's context and allow windows to be placed on all sides for better access to daylight and cross ventilation. High performance insulation and double glazing ensures the house is comfortable year round.
